All nine certified stations have demonstrated Enhanced Environmental Performance by implementing effective measures for Waste Reduction, Water Conservation and Efficient Utilization of Resources. Systematic Collection, Segregation and Scientific Disposal of waste are being carried out strictly as per prescribed guidelines. Significant improvements have also been achieved in Hygiene, Sanitation, and Cleanliness, including Platforms, Circulating Areas, Toilets and Rest Rooms. Measures such as ensuring safe and potable drinking water, improved sanitation facilities and installation of floating valves in water tanks have further contributed to water conservation and environmental protection.

ISO 14001:2015 is an internationally recognized standard for Environmental Management Systems that helps organizations improve environmental performance while ensuring compliance with applicable State and Central Pollution Control Board regulations. The certification reflects the effective implementation of structured environmental management practices, including Energy Conservation, Efficient Resource Management, and Sustainable Waste Handling Systems.

The certification was awarded after a comprehensive Survey and Audit conducted by the Third-Party Accredited National Agency, Envo Green Management Consulting Solutions, Cuttack, which assessed compliance with prescribed environmental management standards at each station.

Alok Tripathi, Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road, congratulated the Environmental Housekeeping Management (EnHM) team of the Mechanical Department for their dedicated efforts in making Railway Stations more environment-friendly and for reinforcing East Coast Railway’s commitment to Sustainable, Responsible and Passenger-Centric Railway Operations.
