Reacting to the results of the local body elections in Kerala, Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor congratulated the UDF for its excellent victory across the state, and did not hesitate to hail the historic victory of the BJP in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.
Tharoor, in a post on X, said that the results show that the people want change and the beauty of democracy is visible even in the state capital. He pointed out that the victory of the UDF and the BJP is due to the public sentiment against the prolonged LDF rule. “I had also campaigned for a change from the 45 years of LDF disaster rule in the corporation. But the people, who wanted a change in government, gave their reward to another party. That is the beauty of democracy,” he said in the post.

“Today is a day of amazing results in the Kerala Local Body Elections! The mandate is clear. Big congratulations to the UDF for its excellent victory in various local bodies! This is a huge recognition and a strong signal from the people ahead of the assembly elections. Hard work, strong message and anti-incumbency sentiment all came together to achieve better results than in 2020. I also acknowledge the historic victory of the BJP in Thiruvananthapuram. I also congratulate them on their major victory in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The BJP has put up a strong performance that marks a remarkable change in the political map of the capital. I had also campaigned for a change from the 45 years of LDF disaster rule in the corporation. But the people, who wanted a change in government, gave their reward to another party. That is the beauty of democracy. Overall, the mandate won by the UDF and the BJP in my constituency should be respected. I will continue to work for the welfare of Kerala, advocate for the needs of the people and uphold the principles of good governance.,” Sashi Tharoor said in the post.
