Chief Of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi has said that Operation Sindoor was a testimony of India’s courage and resolve and that the nation and Indian forces stood by it.

“Operation sindoor was a testimony of courage and showcase of India’s resolve. We completed this challenge by synchronizing diplomacy, deterrence, and destructive application of force. As modern warfare continues to evolve, the Indian Army, while majorly being actively deployed, continues with its drive for transformation like never before,” said the COAS while addressing IMA’s 157th Passing Out Parade (POP) of newly-inducted commissioned officers in the Indian Army in Dehradun. He stated that Indian forces stood by every challenge in operation Sindoor.

General Dwivedi exhorted the new Indian Army officers that they will have to exhibit their true leadership ability in making right decisions through their creativity and adaptability in the absence of any support from any corner. “As young officers you will be part of an exercise for adaptation, anticipation disruption, improving existing weapon systems and preparing counter terrorism. You will not find answers to the challenges in black and white. At times it will be a total vacuum and even absence of orders. As leader the true litmus test will be at that juncture.”

The general further said, “Your ability to take risks and application of creative thinking to come out with solutions will be watched by all commanders, peers and subordinates.”

“As young officers you are catering to a constantly changing world of interest with international competition leading to comprehensive conflicts. In terms of influence and military overreach, new alignment and external influence in our area above all have created a contested environment,” he added.

Invoking the timeless wisdom of renowned strategist in India’s history Chanakya, the COAS reminded the passing-out course officers that material possessions and life itself are transient, but Dharma – righteousness and duty – is eternal. He called upon every officer “to uphold honour, loyalty and courage in service to the nation.” He urged young officers to remain purposeful, prepared and ahead of the curve, inspiring them to serve with pride and conviction as true guardians of India’s sovereignty and future security.
