India will take on South Africa in the second T20I match on 11 December, Thursday, at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh. After winning the first match of the five-day series with a 101-run margin, the hosts will look to produce the same results, while the Proteas will fight to equalise the match.
The stadium will be almost jam-packed, as the venue will be hosting its first international men’s match. Two women’s ODI matches between India and Australia have happened in September 2025. According to the President of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), Amarjit Singh Mehta, 95% of tickets have been sold out.

India vs South Africa, 2nd T20I: Key players to watch
India will once again look up to Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Vice-Captain Shubman Gill even though they had a quiet inning in the first match. Yadav managed 12 off 11 balls in the previous match before falling to Lungi Ngidi, while Gill, who made his return after a neck injury suffered during the Test series, lasted only two deliveries for four runs, also dismissed by Ngidi.
The rest of India’s batting lineup remains stable, with Hardik Pandya in outstanding form. The all-rounder smashed a match-winning 59 off 23 balls in the first T20I and chipped in with the ball as well, removing David Miller for just a single.
For South Africa, captain Aiden Markram and young batter Dewald Brevis will be central to their plans. Markram’s tactical awareness and Brevis’s fearless shot-making give the hosts both stability and acceleration.
The biggest threat for India, however, remains Lungi Ngidi. The pacer picked up three wickets in the previous match and has consistently troubled Indian batters with his bounce and variations.
With the series finely poised and the surface expected to offer early movement, both teams will look to strike the right balance between caution and aggression
