Hrithik Roshan disagrees with ‘Dhurandhar’ politics; trolling pushes him to publish a clarifying post
Hrithik Roshan’s honest take on Dhurandhar, praising its craft but disagreeing with its politics, sparked a wave of trolling online. The actor later returned with a second heartfelt post, doubling down on his admiration for the film’s team.
Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’ seems to be that storm of the season. Ever since it landed online, the film has started loud conversations, sharp debates, and a whole lot of scrolling on social media. Viewers are split. Some are calling it bold, others are calling it biased. But everyone is definitely talking about it. And now, Hrithik Roshan has joined the ‘Dhurandhar’ chat.
The superstar, who rarely comments on other films, surprised fans by posting his honest thoughts on Instagram. His review was gentle, personal, and very… Hrithik.

“I love cinema…” Hrithik’s first reaction
On Instagram stories, Hrithik shared a long note about what impressed him. For him, the heart of ‘Dhurandhar’ is not the argument around it but the passion behind its making.

He wrote that he is drawn to storytellers who dive fully into their narrative, allowing the chaos, emotions, and intensity to shape them. According to him, ‘Dhurandhar’ is exactly that same kind of filmmaking. Raw, fearless, expressive. He praised the way the film spins the viewer and shakes them until the message finds its way to the screen.
But the actor didn’t leave out the part that sparked conversation. Hrithik admitted that he doesn’t agree with the political messaging of the film. He believes filmmakers carry a certain responsibility, especially in how stories reflect the world.
Still, he said he “loved and learnt” from the film as a student of cinema calling it an example of powerful storytelling.

After trolling, Hrithik shared a second post
His balanced review, however, did not go smoothly online. A section of social media, especially right-wing users, trolled him for disagreeing with the film’s politics. Soon after, Hrithik posted another note, this one more emotional and specific.
He praised Aditya Dhar’s direction, Ranveer Singh’s transformation from silent to fierce, Akshaye Khanna’s ever-reliable brilliance, and R. Madhavan’s strength and grace. But the surprise shoutout went to Rakesh Bedi, whose performance he called “phenomenal.”
Hrithik also highlighted the makeup and prosthetics team, saying their work deserved a big round of applause. And finally, he ended with excitement: he cannot wait for Part 2.
While Pakistan's government banned the film, one of its own civic figures broke ranks. Arif Aajakia, ex-mayor of Jamshed Town, said the scenes in 'Dhurandhar' match what he personally witnessed growing up in Lyari.
She said that Johray called her alone to a hotel room, mixed an intoxicant into a drink, and prevented her from leaving despite repeated requests. She claims she vomited multiple times through the night.
A Delhi High Court bench has asked the Union government and CBFC to examine claims that Dhurandhar: The Revenge discloses sensitive operational details of India's armed forces.
