The Delhi Police on Thursday organised a focused workshop and training session for hotel security officials in Aerocity, one of the capital’s key hospitality hubs, an official said.

The initiative, led by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Crime Branch, was designed to boost vigilance against drug trafficking and improve coordination between law enforcement and private establishments.

The police aim to curb drug abuse and trafficking through focused operations, community engagement, and capacity-building initiatives.

Participants were informed about the current drug situation in the capital, the types of narcotics commonly found in the illicit market, the physical and behavioural signs of drug abuse, and the main source states supplying these substances.

Officials also highlighted the health risks associated with narcotics use, emphasising the critical need for coordinated prevention and reporting efforts.

A key highlight of the workshop was the introduction and demonstration of the MANAS portal (1933), a secure platform for confidential reporting of drug-related activities.

The officials also highlighted the portal’s anonymity features, urging hotel security teams to report any suspicious activities promptly and without fear of being identified.

As part of the awareness campaign, all participants took the Anti-Drugs e-Pledge. The initiative received positive feedback from attendees, including former ACP Abhirup Banerji, now Consultant Security at Delhi International Airport Ltd, and Naveen Sehgal, AGM of Aerocity Security.

Both commended the Delhi Police’s initiative to collaborate with private security units in addressing the drug threat in a high-traffic commercial area.

According to the officials, these partnerships are expected to strengthen monitoring and security across hotels and public spaces in Aerocity.
