Rajinikanth remembers AVM Saravanan: The Tamil film industry is in mourning as veteran producer AVM Saravanan passed away early Thursday at the age of 86.

Among those who paid their respects was Tamil superstar Rajinikanth who shared heartfelt memories of his long association with the iconic producer. Speaking to the media after visiting Saravanan’s residence, Rajinikanth described him as a true gentleman whose kindness left a lasting impression.

“He was a really great person. A true gentleman,” said Rajinikanth. “He always wore white, and his heart was just as pure. He loved cinema deeply, and whenever he spoke, he would often mention his father, whom he lovingly called ‘Appachi.’”

Rajinikanth recalled the special bond he shared with Saravanan highlighting the producer’s unwavering support during difficult times.

“He was a well-wisher and cared for me deeply. He stood by me when I faced challenges. I acted in nine films under AVM’s banner, and all of them became big hits. Honestly, a major reason for their success was Saravanan sir,” he said.

The superstar reflected on some of the landmark films that came out of this collaboration. “In the 1980s, it was ‘Murattu Kaalai’, made on a grand scale. In the 2000s, it was ‘Sivaji’, again a massive project. He was even planning another film with me in the 2020s, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen.”

Expressing his grief over the loss, Rajinikanth added, “I offer my deepest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.”

AVM Saravanan passed away due to age-related ailments just a day after celebrating his 86th birthday. As the driving force behind the AVM banner, his career spanned decades. He produced some of the most memorable films in Tamil cinema. His influence shaped generations of actors, directors, technicians.
