Centre’s Rs 1,500 crore flood aid still pending, says Himachal Revenue Minister

Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Friday said that the state has not received any funds so far, despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi having announced Rs 1,500 crore in financial assistance for flood-and rain-affected people of Himachal Pradesh.

Responding to a joint question by MLAs Kewal Singh Pathania, Kuldeep Rathore, JR Katwal, and Deep Raj, during the question hour in the State Legislative Assembly at Tapovan Dharamshala on Friday, he said that the Prime Minister visited Himachal on 9 September and announced this assistance package, which is yet to reach the state government.

Negi informed that over the past three years, till 31 October 2025, the Centre has released Rs 3,451.43 crore and the state government has released Rs 769.82 crore under the State Disaster Response Fund based on the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission. Out of the total allocated amount of Rs 3,686.10 crore for various relief works, Rs 3,345.02 crore has been spent, and Rs 341.08 crore remains unspent.

Referring to the Karsog Assembly constituency, he said that in the last three years, Rs 34.63 crore has been sanctioned for flood and landslide relief, out of which Rs 31.30 crore has been spent. In Mahog village of Karsog, relief assistance was provided under SDRF, NDRF, and special packages for 18 cases in 2023-24, amounting to Rs 1,99,500 and Rs 18,80,500, respectively.

In 2025, assistance for 23 cases included Rs 21,52,500 under SDRF/NDRF and Rs 44,97,500 under the special relief package. The minister clarified that villages named Bagi, Baunh, and Saryu do not exist in the Karsog constituency.
