The Delhi Police have arrested a 23-year-old psycho killer accused of brutally murdering a woman near Adarsh Nagar Railway Station earlier this month, an official said on Friday.
Salman, the accused, was tracked down to Vedach in Gujarat’s Bharuch district after evading police teams across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Ghaziabad.

“The matter came to light on November 16, when police received a call from GRP Subzi Mandi reporting the body of an unidentified woman, aged around 40–42, found half-naked inside dense shrubs behind Shed No. 2 of Adarsh Nagar Railway Station,” said Bhisham Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West).

Her clothes were torn, and she had multiple knife wounds on her head and face. At the crime scene, police also recovered a suspected weapon, a pair of women’s slippers, and a pair of men’s slippers — a clue that later led them to the killer.
During CCTV analysis, investigators spotted the victim entering the station premises, followed moments later by a man in a pink shirt, grey trousers, and distinctive white-and-black slippers with a sports logo, the same pair found at the crime site. Minutes later, the suspect was seen returning barefoot, heading towards Sarai Peepal Thala.
Local enquiries identified him as Salman, a resident of the area and a habitual offender previously involved in two serious cases of robbery and kidnapping and rape of a minor girl.
A raid at his home yielded nothing, and attempts to intercept him at Rohini Courts — where he had a scheduled hearing — also failed, prompting the issuance of NBWs.
While police teams attempted to trace him across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, a crucial tip-off on the night of November 17 led investigators to Gujarat.
A team from Mahendra Park police station raided a brick kiln in Vedach and arrested the accused. He later confessed to the murder, and police recovered his clothes, slippers, and the weapon used in the crime.
“The deceased was identified as Seejan, 52, a mentally unwell woman from Holambi Kalan,” the DCP said.
The team is now probing whether Salman is linked to other unsolved crimes, and further investigation into this case is ongoing.
