Ahead of the upcoming Parliament session, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday urged the MPs from the state to work towards ensuring presidential assent for the Kerala Wildlife Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
He also urged the MPs to set aside political differences and to take a collective stand to secure the state’s legitimate dues from the Centre.

Addressing a virtual meeting attended by MPs from both Houses, Pinarayi Vijayan said that the law passed by the Kerala assembly in October envisages several provisions for expediting action against dangerous animals that injure humans and pose an immediate threat to human lives.
He said that the state assembly had made amendments to the Wildlife Protection Act, a central law, to ease various obstacles in it with regard to preventing animal attacks.
CM Vijayan asked the MPs to intervene for the disbursement of the central share to be provided to the victims of the human-animal conflict. Pinarayi Vijayan asked them to urge the Centre to increase its share under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2.0 and waive the branding requirement for houses built under the scheme.
Highlighting that the centre only provided 260.56 crores for the Meppadi-Chooralmala rehabilitation against the sought support of 2,221.03 crores, Pinarayi Vijayan also asked the parliamentarians to help the state avail its deserving share
CM Vijayan also urged the MPs to raise the issues of increasing the state’s borrowing limit to 3.5 per cent, restoring amounts cut by the Centre from Kerala’s borrowing limit in 2024-25 and 2025-26 and provide GST compensation for losses incurred by the state due to the GST reforms
Pinarayi Vijayan also said that kerosene must be made available at subsidised rates for fishing requirements. He further noted that the Offshore Areas Atomic Minerals Operating Right Rules 2025 were notified without consulting the opinion of states, as part of which a letter was already sent to the Prime Minister.
