The incident has sent shockwaves through the local Education Department, where Yadav was serving as a BLO under the Basic Education Department. The authorities have yet to release further details regarding the circumstances that led to him consuming the poisonous substance.

Meanwhile, a report from Fatehpur said a 25-year-old revenue clerk (lekhpal), Sudhir Kumar Kori, commited suicide on Tuesday in Fatehpur — a day before his scheduled wedding.

The incident has left his family shattered, with relatives alleging that workplace pressure and denial of leave by a senior revenue official drove him to take the extreme step.

Sudhir, posted as a lekhpal in Sultangarh under Khajuha block, was about to marry Kajal, a resident of nearby Sitapur village, on 26 November. Haldi and mehendi ceremonies had already begun, and relatives had gathered for the celebrations.

According to the family, Sudhir had been repeatedly requesting leave but the kanungo (revenue inspector) was not approving it. Instead, he allegedly threatened Sudhir with suspension — and eventually suspended him on Monday.

Sudhir had been serving as a lekhpal for two years and was recently assigned responsibilities under the Election Commission’s SIR campaign as a supervisor for the Jahanabad Assembly constituency.

A district administration spokesperson said, “The incident is being thoroughly investigated. Statements are being recorded from the family and officials. Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.”

Police confirmed that the body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is ongoing.
