Mayo College, one of India’s most historic and prestigious residential schools, will commemorate the 150th anniversary of its founding with a four-day celebration between Nov 27 and 30.
Established in 1875, the institution — often referred to as the “Eton of the East” — continues to represent a distinguished blend of heritage, academic excellence and all-round character evolution. Its iconic Indo-Saracenic architecture and 187-acre campus remain enduring symbols of its storied past.

In a special note marking the milestone, the scion of the Jodhpur Royal Family, former Maharaja Gaj Singh, president of the Mayo College General Council, emphasised that the school’s longevity is the result of its unwavering commitment to holistic education, stakeholder inclusion and continuous institutional renewal.
He observed that the 150th anniversary is both a celebration and a responsibility, calling upon every member of the Mayo community to “be a good ancestor” by strengthening the institution for the generations to come.
He highlighted the school’s strategic reforms in governance, the need for transparency, the pursuit of academic and non-academic excellence, and the importance of maintaining Mayo as an institution that evolves with time while remaining rooted in its values.
The anniversary celebrations will showcase a vibrant spectrum of events reflecting the school’s cultural, artistic, sporting, and intellectual strengths. The programme will include a special assembly, temple service, extensive student exhibitions, an art exhibition inaugurated by artist Paresh Maity, and an art auction curated by Charu Sharma.
