Fresh audio recordings and WhatsApp chats have surfaced that allegedly feature suspended Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil forcing a woman to get pregnant and then demanding an abortion.
The recordings, released by a Malayalam TV channel, feature purported conversations between Rahul Mamkootathil and the girl. In the audio, the girl is heard alleging that Rahul Mankootathil encouraged her to become to get conceived. He can be heard telling her that they should have a baby. However, the conversation further reveals that the MLA is allegedly pressuring the girl to undergo an abortion. Questioning his sudden change of stance, the girl says everything had been planned by him.
The MLA is heard using abusive language and calling the woman a “drama queen” when she expresses her physical and emotional distress. Earlier leaked audio clips also allegedly contained death threats, with the male voice
Accompanying the audio, screenshots of WhatsApp chats were also released by the TV channel, allegedly showing Mamkootathil explicitly stating, “I wanna make you pregnant” and “we should have a baby”.
In the chat, Rahul Mamkootathil opens up about his desire to get the woman pregnant and raise a child. However, in the ensuing audio calls that got leaked, Rahul was heard insisting that the woman undergo an abortion
Rahul Mamkoottathil has avoided directly confirming or denying if it is his voice in the recordings. He has stated that he hasn’t done anything illegal, has a right to proceed legally, and will prove his innocence in court
The emergence of the fresh audio and chat messages has intensified the controversy, prompting renewed calls for a detailed investigation into the allegations.
The Kerala Crime Branch has a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the matter, which was formed based on a complaint filed by a third-party lawyer after the initial audio clips surfaced in August 2025. The investigation has been slow because the woman involved has not yet come forward to file an official complaint or provide a statement to the police.
Following the initial allegations and public uproar in August, Mamkootathil was suspended from the Congress party for six months and he stepped down as the state Youth Congress chief. He remains the sitting MLA for the Palakkad constituency.
The release of these new audio recordings comes ahead of local self-government elections in Kerala, intensifying political pressure on the Congress party.
