Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Thursday accused AAP leaders of misleading people over the city government’s decision based on court’s ruling over allowing electricity connections to booked MCD properties.

He said AAP leaders Durgesh Pathak and Kuldeep Kumar claimed that the previous Arvind Kejriwal government wanted to provide electricity and water connections to booked properties involved in illegal construction, but the BJP-led Municipal Corporation did not allow it.

The Delhi BJP spokesperson has stated that statements made by Pathak and Kumar are contradictory, and further added that people of the city want to ask them, if in 2020–21 the Kejriwal government could order the Delhi Jal Board to provide water connections to booked properties, then why did the regime not direct its own power discoms to provide electricity connections, he questioned.

“Kumar should tell why, in February 2024—when both the MCD and government were under ‘AAP’ rule, they chose to pass a proposal instead of issuing a direct order,” asked the BJP leader.

The BJP leader further claimed that back in time, AAP leaders and officials of private power companies were in collusion, and allegedly supplied electricity wrongfully to booked properties in the city, and made crores.

Kapoor said now, with the court’s order, the BJP government in Delhi has stopped this illegal business.
