Humane Sagar, Odia music icon, passes away at 36 after multi-organ failure

Odia singer Humane Sagar passed away at 36 after battling severe pneumonia and multi-organ failure at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Fans, leaders and the Odisha music fraternity mourn the loss of one of the state’s most emotional voices.

Humane Sagar death: The Odia music world is mourning the loss of one of its most loved voices. Popular singer Humane Sagar passed away on Monday evening at the age of 36. He was undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for the last three days, where a team of specialists tried everything to save him.

Sagar was admitted to the hospital on 14 November in a serious condition. Doctors placed him under advanced life support as his health kept getting worse.

Reason behind Humane Sagar’s death

According to the hospital, he was suffering from multiple critical problems, including severe pneumonia, acute chronic liver failure, heart complications, kidney issues, and multi-organ failure. And despite continuous treatment, he did not show any signs of recovery.

His wife had earlier shared that there was no improvement in his condition. Later in the evening, the hospital confirmed that the singer breathed his last at 9:08 pm on 17 November 2025.

Dr Srikant Behera of AIIMS Bhubaneswar stated that the medical team gave him every possible treatment, but his body did not respond. The hospital described his condition as “refractory shock” with multiple organs failing, making it impossible for him to recover.

Odisha mourns Humane Sagar: CM Majhi, Pradhan and Panda offer tributes

As soon as the news broke, tributes began pouring in from everywhere. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi expressed deep sorrow on social media. He wrote that Humane Sagar’s passing is an “irreparable loss to Odisha’s music and cinema” and offered prayers for the strength of his family.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda also shared their condolences calling his death shocking and heartbreaking.

Humane Sagar: Early life, age, family and musical journey

Humane Sagar’s journey began in Titilagarh, Bolangir, where he was born on November 25, 1990. Music ran deeply in his family. His grandfather and father were both music directors. So he grew up surrounded by songs, instruments, and rehearsals. This early exposure laid the foundation for the singer he would become.

Sagar’s rise to fame began in 2012 when he participated in Tarang TV’s “Voice of Odisha Season 2”.

His success continued when he entered the film industry. In 2015, he made his playback singing debut in the movie “Ishq Tu Hi Tu”. The film became a huge hit, and so did its songs. From that moment, Humane Sagar became one of the most sought-after voices in Ollywood.
