Security Forces intensify operations across Manipur; Multiple arrests made

Security forces in Manipur have intensified intelligence-based combing, cordon and search operations across the state as part of efforts to curb extortion, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities.

Several arrests were made during the latest round of operations yesterday.

In one operation, an active cadre of a proscribed group was apprehended from the Canchipur area under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district.

A mobile phone was seized during the arrest. In a separate routine checking drive at the Maram check point in Senapati district, two individuals involved in drug trafficking were detained.

Security personnel seized 18.2 kg of opium along with a four-wheeler vehicle from their possession. Meanwhile, a video circulating on social media showing armed individuals in Myanmar and claiming they are heading toward Manipur has been flagged as misleading.

The public has been urged not to share such content, as it may create unnecessary fear and panic. Circulating such misinformation may invite legal action.

Security forces throughout the state, including those deployed along border areas, remain on high alert and continue to take necessary measures to maintain peace and ensure public safety, police said.
