60% of 15.44 crore voters in UP provided with enumeration forms for SIR: CEO

According to state Chief Electoral Officer ( CEO) Navdeep Rinwa, out of a total of 15.44 crore voters in the state, enumeration forms have been distributed to 9.38 crore (60 percent) voters so far.

Around 60% of the total voters in Uttar Pradesh have been provided enumeration forms for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision ( SIR) of electrol rolls commenced on November 4.

According to state Chief Electoral Officer ( CEO) Navdeep Rinwa, out of a total of 15.44 crore voters in the state, enumeration forms have been distributed to 9.38 crore (60 percent) voters so far. He admitted that 13 districts had distributed less than 50 per cent of the enumeration. The district are Kanpur Nagar, Moradabad, Mahoba, Kanpur Dehat, Agra, Unnao, Jaunpur, Lucknow, Amroha, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Deoria, and Rae Bareli.

“All districts were directed to conduct a booth-wise review of the distribution of enumeration forms and ensure 100 per cent distribution of counting forms by November 15 as far as possible. Booth-level officers will provide guidance to voters in filling out the forms during the distribution of the forms. Instructions were given to provide necessary instructions and training to all booth-level officers in this regard,” CEO said while reviewing the progress of SIR in the state.

The review revealed that all District Election Officers( DEO) have met with political parties and informed them about the SIR process and the Commission’s instructions.

“The political parties, Bharatiya Janata Party, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and Indian National Congress, have provided lists of their district representatives. They should be contacted and requested to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs), who will assist the BLOs in the revision work,” he said.

The CEO said all the District Election Officers were directed to share the day-to-day progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) with the media and disseminate it through their social media handles. Any misleading/negative posts should be immediately addressed and a factual response should be provided.

All DEOs were also directed that strict action will be taken if any negligence or disregard of the instructions is found at any level during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), he said.
