Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President Mayawati held a detailed review meeting on Wednesday with the party units of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. Earlier, on November 7, she conducted a similar review meeting with the party units of Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha.
During these meetings, Mayawati reviewed the progress made by the party in strengthening its organization at the grassroots level and expanding its social base across all communities. She directed party leaders to address the shortcomings identified during previous sessions and to intensify their efforts to advance the BSP’s movement and ideology.

In her address to the party leaders, the BSP chief expressed deep concern over widespread poverty and unemployment prevalent in the country, which, she said, have hit the poor and working-class Bahujan families the hardest. These marginalized sections, she noted, are forced to wander in search of livelihood while both the Central and state governments remain more focused on narrow political interests than on genuinely addressing these critical issues.
She reminded that the Constitution mandates governments to ensure employment opportunities and welfare-oriented governance for all citizens. “It is the constitutional responsibility of the government to provide a livelihood and basic facilities to the people. Unfortunately, both Central and state administrations have failed to fulfill these obligations sincerely,” she added.
Referring to the states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, Mayawati urged their respective governments to conduct an honest self-assessment of their performance and their adherence to the oaths they took upon assuming office. “Winning elections should not be the only objective of politics; serving the people with honesty and ensuring their welfare must be the real goal,” she said.
The BSP chief highlighted the growing discontent among farmers and the poor, especially in Punjab and Haryana.Despite political change in Punjab, she said, the condition of the common people has not improved, while in Haryana, under continued BJP rule, the situation has worsened further. “The governments are trying to divert public attention from real issues through communal and caste-based tactics, which is extremely unfortunate and harmful to national interest,” she remarked.
Mayawati also praised the participation of BSP workers from these states in the memorial program held on October 9, 2025, in Lucknow, commemorating the death anniversary of BSP founder Manyawar Kanshi Ram. She called upon them to follow his mission and develop the same spirit of self-empowerment that the people of Uttar Pradesh demonstrated — transforming themselves from the oppressed to the ruling class. Only through such awakening, she emphasized, can the humanitarian and welfare-oriented vision of the Constitution be truly realized across the country.
Announcing upcoming party activities, Mayawati directed BSP units to organize Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s death anniversary program on December 6, 2025, with full missionary zeal and dedication. “This event must not be a mere formality like those of other political parties, but a true reflection of BSP’s mission and commitment,” she said.
In a separate statement, Mayawati strongly condemned the explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi yesterday, offering deep condolences to the families of the victims and wishing speedy recovery to the injured. She urged the government to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, irrespective of their religion or background.
