Veteran Bollywood legend Dharmendra, 89, was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Monday, according to media reports. Though details about his health remain unclear, the news has naturally worried his fans across the country.
Just last week, Dharmendra had visited the same hospital for a routine check-up. At that time, his wife and fellow actor Hema Malini had reassured everyone that he was “absolutely fine.” She had spoken to the media while leaving the city. When photographers asked about her husband’s condition, she simply gestured “okay.”

Despite those reassurances, reports of the actor’s hospitalisation have again sparked concern. So far, neither the family nor Dharmendra’s representatives have issued an official statement.
Sources close to the family have suggested that there’s no reason to panic. “Dharmendra ji goes for regular health check-ups, and this time too it seems like a routine visit,” one insider reportedly told the media. “He’s doing well. Someone must have seen him at the hospital, which started all the rumours.”
Known as the ‘He-Man’ of Hindi cinema, Dharmendra’s charm and warmth have defined generations of Hindi film lovers. From ‘Sholay’ and ‘Chupke Chupke’ to ‘Satyakam’ and ‘Phool Aur Patthar’, his journey has been nothing short of iconic.
Even at this age, the actor has shown no signs of slowing down. Earlier this year, he appeared in ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. His next big project, ‘Ikkis’, directed by Sriram Raghavan, will see him share the screen with Agastya Nanda. The film is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Arun Khetarpal.
Dharmendra will celebrate his 90th birthday this December.
