The probe was initiated following Aqil Akhter’s death under suspicious circumstances on October 16 at the family’s residence in Panchkula. The investigation was triggered by a viral video posted by the deceased on August 27, where he alleged an illicit relationship between his father and his wife, and claimed his family was conspiring to kill him or frame him in a false case.
The Haryana government had previously requested the central government to hand over the investigation to the CBI.
