Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the year-long commemoration of the National Song “Vande Mataram” at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Friday, November 7. The event marks 150 years since the song was composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875.

“Tomorrow, 7th November, is a momentous day for every Indian. We celebrate 150 glorious years of Vande Mataram, a stirring call that has inspired generations and ignited an undying spirit of patriotism across our nation,” PM Modi said in a post on handle X.

The celebration will include the release of a commemorative stamp and coin, as well as a mass recital of Vande Mataram across the country at 9:50 AM. The event aims to reconnect citizens with the patriotic spirit and cultural essence embodied in the national song.

Union ministers, including Nitin Gadkari, will lead mass Vande Mataram singing at 150 places in Maharashtra, while similar events are planned at iconic sites across the country, including the Kargil War Memorial and the Cellular Jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
