Inquiry ordered into Yamunanagar bus accident; strict action to follow against those found guilty: Anil Vij

Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij has ordered an inquiry into the tragic bus accident in Yamunanagar and assured that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for the mishap.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Vij expressed deep sorrow over the incident that took place earlier in the day in Pratap Nagar, Yamunanagar, involving a Haryana Roadways bus.

He said that the senior officers of the Transport Department have been instructed to examine every possible cause of the accident, including whether it occurred due to a technical failure in the vehicle or driver negligence.

“No one found guilty will be spared. The inquiry will look into all aspects of the case, and strictest action will follow based on its findings,” the Minister asserted.

According to initial reports, the tragic incident occurred when a few girl students slipped and fell while boarding the bus in Pratap Nagar. One of the students lost her life, while several others were injured and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, Vij said the government stands with them in this hour of grief and assured them that all possible assistance will be provided to the victims’ families.

He reiterated that safety and maintenance protocols across all transport services would be reviewed to prevent such incidents in the future.

“Public safety is our top priority. We are ensuring that every bus is properly inspected and that drivers strictly follow safety guidelines,” the Minister added.

The Transport Department has already initiated a fact-finding probe, and the report is expected to be submitted soon. Senior officials have been directed to visit the accident site and coordinate with local authorities to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the mishap.

The tragic accident has sent shockwaves across the Yamunanagar district, with residents and parents urging authorities to strengthen safety measures for students who rely on state transport for their daily commute.

The state government, meanwhile, has assured that necessary corrective steps will be taken once the inquiry findings are received, to ensure that such tragedies are not repeated.
