The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday inspected the Anand Vihar area, which is considered one of the city’s most severe pollution hotspots.
The visit aims to assess the on-the-ground situation and ensure that remedial measures are implemented effectively.

MCD Additional Commissioner Liladhar Meghwal was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Shahdara, South Zone, Badal Kumar, along with senior MCD officials and ground staff.
During the inspection, the Additional Commissioner reviewed the air quality monitoring zone and directed officials to work in close coordination with multiple stakeholders to bring down pollution levels in the area.
As part of the drive to improve traffic movement and curb emissions, eight buses that were found parked improperly and obstructing the main carriageway were challaned on the spot.
Meghwal informed that parking arrangements for 150 buses would soon be operational, easing congestion along the PWD Main Road and preventing idling emissions from stationary vehicles.
The Additional Commissioner further instructed officials to expedite the ongoing construction work on the road located behind the AQI station by deploying additional manpower.
He also directed that the nearby smog tower be operated for extended hours to help mitigate local pollution levels.
Highlighting the MCD’s broader pollution control measures, Meghwal said that mechanical sweeping and road cleaning using jetting machines are being carried out regularly to reduce dust dispersion.
“The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is taking every possible step to control pollution and ensure cleaner air for the citizens,” he added.
