It’s not every day that space and cinema collide but this Sunday, they did in spectacular style! The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its latest rocket, fondly named Bahubali carrying CMS-03, India’s heaviest communication satellite ever lifted from home soil. And who better to celebrate this blockbuster moment than SS Rajamouli and his team behind the cinematic epic ‘Baahubali’?
Sharing his excitement on social media, Rajamouli posted a stunning snapshot of the rocket soaring into the sky, “Congratulations to ISRO on the successful launch of the heaviest communication satellite CMS-03 today! A proud moment for India showcasing our technological strength and self-reliance in space exploration. Onwards and upwards!” he wrote.

The director explained that the rocket’s name is more than just a tribute to the film. It symbolizes heaviness, strength, and unstoppable power.
“Our entire Baahubali team is elated as @ISRO fondly named this rocket ‘Bahubali’. Truly a privilege for all of us,” he added.
The official ‘Baahubali’ social media team joined in the celebration reposting videos of the launch with a caption that perfectly captured the spirit: “The #Baahubali spirit truly knows no limits, from winning hearts across the world to now conquering the skies! Congratulations Team @ISRO. #BaahubaliTheEpic #ISRO #LVM3M5.”
So, what makes this launch historic? The CMS-03 satellite weighs a whopping 4,410 kg, replacing GSAT-7, which serves the Indian Navy. The rocket, LVM-3, successfully placed the satellite into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) on Sunday evening marking a major leap for India’s space capabilities.
