The birthday of Shah Rukh Khan is always like a festival for his fans. Every year, thousands gather outside his Mumbai home, Mannat hoping to see just one glimpse of their favourite superstar. But this year, the excitement came with a twist.
On Sunday, as Shah Rukh Khan turned 60, fans waited outside Mannat expecting the tradition to continue. However, the “King of Bollywood” made a surprising decision. He did not step out for his signature balcony wave.

The superstar celebrated the special day quietly in Alibaug along with close friends from the film industry, but fans in Mumbai stood hopeful for hours. Soon, SRK took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared an emotional note apologising for not meeting them this time.
In his heartfelt message, he explained, “I have been advised by authorities that I cannot step out and greet you all, even though I really wanted to.” He mentioned that the safety of everyone was the top priority, especially with huge crowds already gathering. “My deepest apologies to all of you… it is for everyone’s safety,” he added.
The actor said he will miss his fans more than they will miss him. “Believe me, I wanted to see you and share love,” he wrote.
Reports suggest the decision came after concerns around security in Mumbai following recent mafia-linked incidents in the city. Authorities believed a large public gathering could pose a risk and asked SRK not to step out for his usual birthday interaction.
Even though fans couldn’t see him in person, social media was full of love. Hashtags like #HappyBirthdaySRK, #KingKhanAt60, and #PathaanToJawanEra trended all day.
This birthday week has been emotional for Shah Rukh Khan for another reason as well. He received his first National Award. After more than three decades in cinema, SRK won the prestigious honour for his powerful performance in the blockbuster film ‘Jawan’. He shared the Best Actor award with Vikrant Massey who won for his moving role in ‘12th Fail’.
