Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, has had a challenging start to his acting journey. The young star made his debut with ‘Nadaaniyan’ in March followed by ‘Sarzameen’ in July. Both films released directly on OTT platforms but they did not fare well with critics.

In a candid conversation with Esquire India, Ibrahim admitted that while he never took his opportunity for granted, he may have rushed into films. “I’m not saying I took my chance lightly, but I stepped into the industry thinking, ‘It will happen.’ Of course, I worked hard especially on my speech but looking back, I feel I could have been more mindful,” he said.

The actor was just 21 when he began shooting noting that most newcomers start at a later age, around 26 or 27.

‘Nadaaniyan’, Ibrahim’s first outing, featured big names like Mahima Chaudhry, Suniel Shetty, Dia Mirza, and Jugal Hansraj, and was directorial of debutant Shauna Gautam. His second film ‘Sarzameen’ which starred Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran and was directorial of Kayoze Irani, also failed to impress reviewers.

With a grandfather like Sharmila Tagore and stepmother Kareena Kapoor in the mix, he admits that his lineage serves as both inspiration and a gentle push during moments of self-doubt. “I often feel unsure about myself. But then I remember my family, Saif Ali Khan, Bebo in my life and it reminds me that I can do this. I should be smashing it,” he said.

Looking ahead, Ibrahim is preparing for a fresh start with his next project, the sports drama ‘Diler’. Directed by Kunal Deshmukh and co-starring Sreeleela, the film reportedly follows the story of a marathon runner.
