Former president of the BJP’s Kerala unit, K Surendran, on Saturday alleged that religious terrorist organisations are behind the hijab issue that is being raised in St Rita’s Public School at Palluruthi in Kochi.

Speaking to the media in Thrissur, Surendran said that Education Minister Sivankutty is making baseless claims for the sake of vote-bank politics. He asked Sivankutty to examine previous court verdicts on the issue, adding that courts have issued orders stating it is up to individual schools to decide on uniforms.

“There is no good intention behind the insistence on wearing the hijab or having space to offer namaz in schools run by Christian and other private managements. Religious extremists, who are trying to create unrest in Kerala and divide society, are behind this,” he said.

He alleged that Kerala Congress MPs and the state Education Minister are publicly kneeling before the Popular Front of India.

Speaking on the Sabarimala gold heist issue, Surendran said that the delay in arresting Unnikrishnan Potty for several days was part of a conspiracy to prevent the investigation from reaching the big sharks and to destroy evidence. He also alleged that the investigation team has clear information that the gold theft in Sabarimala took place with the knowledge of former Devaswom Board presidents A. Padmakumar and Vasu.

Padmakumar, a close associate and confidant of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and former Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran, has a clear role in this robbery, he alleged. “What happened at Sabarimala was not an isolated theft, but part of a larger plan to systematically rob temples in Kerala. If the robbery was carried out with the knowledge of Padmakumar and Vasu, it could not have happened without the knowledge of the leaders above them,” he said.

“If Tipu Sultan openly looted the temples of Kerala, the Pinarayi Vijayan government is looting the temples using his followers,” he said. “This is part of a move to seize not only the gold in the temples, but the entire wealth,” Surendran added.

Stating that there is a conspiracy to protect the giant sharks in the case by catching only the small fish, he demanded a probe by the central agencies into the Sabarimala gold heist case.
