Big people behind Sabarimala gold heist: Accused Unnikrishnan Potty

The prime accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case, Unnikrishnan Potty, has reportedly stated to the SIT that there were big people behind the case and that the conspiracy in the Sabarimala gold robbery took place in Bengaluru.

Potty reportedly stated that he initially gave his statement to the Vigilance as per the instructions received from Bengaluru and that there were big people behind the Sabarimala gold heist.

Potty also stated that he did not gain much from the gold robbery, the profit was made by others. As soon as the Vigilance investigation began, he was summoned to Bengaluru and given some instructions. Potty also gave a statement to the investigation team that Kalpesh was brought in as part of the conspiracy.

In addition, Unnikrishnan Potty’s statement implicates Travancore Devaswom officials.

Meanwhile,the SIT has conducted a search at Unnikrishnan Potty’s family house in Pulimath, Thiruvananthapuram. The investigation team arrived at his house while Unnikrishnan Potty was being questioned at the crime branch office.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday early morning arrested Unnikrishnan Potty, who is the prime accused in two cases registered in connection with the missing gold from temple artefacts.

Potty was taken into custody from his residence near Kilimanoor on Thursday morning and questioned for 11 hours by Crime Branch SP Bijoy P. Later in the night, S Sasidharan, director of KEPA (Kerala Police Academy). The Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Ranni granted the custody of Potty to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) till October 30.

While talking to the media outside the court , Potty said that those who trapped him come before law .He said that he stole the gold with the knowledge and consent of the top officials of the devaswom.
