Vicky Kaushal first won hearts with his emotional performance in ‘Masaan’ directed by Neeraj Ghaywan. Cut to now, he recently shared his thoughts on Bollywood’s growing obsession with hyper-masculine heroes.

Speaking at the Yuvaa Conclave, the actor explained that the trend of high-octane, action-heavy films is not something new but just another phase that reflects what society wants at the moment.

“There have always been phases in the industry,” Vicky said. “Sometimes it’s intense romance, sometimes comedy, sometimes action. The audience decides what’s in demand, and we simply supply it. It’s a business, after all, but we try to bring our artistic vision into it.”

Vicky added that while every year brings a few surprise hits that don’t fit the usual formula, most films are made keeping the current trend in mind. “It’s all about gauging what people want to see,” he said. “There are always two or three films that go beyond the trend and still work, but mostly, it’s demand and supply.”

The actor pointed out that today’s audience loves big-screen experiences: loud sound, dramatic visuals, and high-energy storytelling. And while he agrees that such films aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, he doesn’t see anything wrong with them.

“Right now, the audience wants that theatrical experience, and that’s fine,” Vicky said. “The moment they get tired of it, things will shift again. This phase will pass too.”

Vicky’s comments come at a time when action-heavy blockbusters are dominating the box office. His own film ‘Chhaava’ has turned out to be the biggest hit of the year, earning over ₹800 crore globally, with ₹600 crore coming from the Hindi version alone.

As for his upcoming projects, Vicky will next appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’. He stars alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
