Tripura CM Manik Saha meets PM Modi over infra build-up

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, a post from the Prime Minister’s office said Wednesday.

It is learnt that the two leaders discussed various developmental and welfare issues concerning the state. The meeting focused on strengthening the state’s infrastructure and implementing key projects under the vision of ‘Viksit Tripura, Viksit Bharat’.

According to sources, Saha had sought the prime minister’s support for several crucial projects, including double-laning of railway track in Tripura and introduction of Vande Bharat Express train between Agartala and Guwahati, to boost connectivity and promote tourism.

Saha also requested an increase in the ceiling limit for EAPs to facilitate development projects in the state, and also sought approval for 15 additional EMRS to improve education infrastructure in the state.

While requesting for the inclusion of the Bru-Reang community under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and an increase in wheat allocation under the Public Distribution System (PDS) Saha also proposed the establishment of an Agar Board and research centre to boost Tripura’s aromatic industry. He also urged the Prime Minister to declare Unakoti, the state’s heritage site, as a Sustainable Development Heritage Site.

The meeting between Saha and PM Modi reflects Tripura’s commitment to aligning its development agenda with the national vision of inclusive growth and infrastructure advancement. The Chief Minister’s efforts to promote Tripura’s development and cultural heritage were well-received by the Prime Minister.
