The Forest Department sleuths Tuesday captured a leopard that had been roaming the highly-secure Dogra Regiment Cantonment area of Ayodhya for a year.
District Divisional Forest Officer Prakhar Gupta said the Forest Department team tranquilized and sedated the leopard and caged it, bringing huge relief to the residents of the area.

For the past one year, local residents had been complaining to the district administration, Cantonment Board, and Army officials about the presence of a leopard.

This morning, while walking, some people noticed a leopard trapped in an iron wire net installed by the Army.
Upon receiving the information, Cantonment Station Officer Pankaj Singh, along with his police team, reached the spot where the leopard was trapped and informed the Forest Department. Divisional Forest Officer Prakhar Gupta, upon receiving the information, reached the spot along with officers and employees of the Forest Department and tranquilized the leopard. As soon as it became unconscious, it was locked in an iron cage.
Gupta said that as soon as orders are received from officials, the leopard will be released in a big forest.
