Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid rich tributes to Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia, a prominent Indian politician and founding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on her birth anniversary.
In a heartfelt post on X, PM Modi remembered Scindia’s tireless efforts to serve society and her instrumental role in strengthening the Jana Sangh and the BJP.

“Her efforts to serve society will never be forgotten,” PM Modi said, highlighting Scindia’s dedication to public service.
“She played a key role in strengthening the Jana Sangh and BJP. Vijayaraje Scindia Ji was passionate about our cultural roots and always worked to protect as well as popularise them,” PM Modi wrote.
Born on October 12, 1919, in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, Vijaya Raje Scindia was a member of the erstwhile royal family of Gwalior. She entered politics in 1957, initially representing the Congress Party before joining the Jana Sangh in 1967. Scindia went on to become a prominent figure in Indian politics, serving multiple terms as a Member of Parliament and playing a crucial role in shaping the BJP’s early years.
