Three Congress-led UDF Opposition MLAs were suspended from the Kerala Assembly on Thursday for the remainder of the session for allegedly manhandling the watch and ward staff.
The suspended MLAs, all from the Congress party, are Roji M John (Angamaly), Saneesh Kumar Joseph (Chalakudy) and M Vincent (Kovalam). The suspension came after a motion moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister MB Rajesh. He accused the trio of violating the special privileges of the Assembly and of causing serious injury to the Chief Marshal.

MB Rajesh noted that the Chief Marshal sustained serious injuries to his right hand during attacks by opposition members and required surgery, as advised by doctors.

Earlier, the Assembly session was disrupted for the fourth consecutive day as the UDF MLAs gathered in the well, raising banners and demanding the resignation of the Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan. The Speaker ordered the security staff to seize the placards and banners from the Opposition members. The Chief marshal is reported to have been injured in the scuffle that followed.
Kerala Assembly has been witnessing uproar since Monday following sustained protests from opposition Congress-led UDF members demanding the resignation of Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan and disbanding of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) over missing gold at the Dwarapalaka idols in Sabarimala temple. In the last four days, the Opposition had disrupted the proceedings, trooping into the well of the House and holding placards.
Responding to the suspension of the UDF MLAs, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph alleged that the Chief Marshal’s injury was part of a political conspiracy orchestrated after the session was temporarily suspended. He warned that protests would continue both inside and outside the House.
