The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially cleared director Mari Selvaraj’s much-talked-about sports drama ‘Bison Kaalamaadan’ for release with a U/A certificate. The film, starring Dhruv Vikram in the lead role, is all ready to hit theatres on October 17.
Mari Selvaraj shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, writing, “Kaalamaadan is limitless and he is set to meet everyone on Oct 17th!! Censored U/A!! #BisonKaalamaadan! 9 more days to go!!”

Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Studios, the film has been building anticipation ever since its first look was unveiled in March.

Dhruv Vikram, son of veteran actor Vikram, plays a kabaddi player in the film. The actor reportedly underwent intense training to fit into the role, both physically and emotionally. The film also stars Anupama Parameswaran as the female lead, along with Lal, Pasupathy, Rajisha Vijayan, Hari Krishnan, Azhagam Perumal, Aruvi Madhanand, and Kalaiyarasan in key roles.

The makers describe ‘Bison’ as a story inspired by true events; one that explores resilience and triumph against all odds.
Earlier, when filming was completed, Dhruv Vikram shared a heartfelt message on Instagram reflecting on his journey with the project. “After years of preparation, several months of filming, shedding blood, sweat, and tears, it’s finally a wrap on ‘BISON’. The process of shooting and prepping for this film has changed my life. Thank you @mariselvaraj84 Sir for fortifying my soul and giving me an experience of a lifetime,” he wrote.
Cinematographer Ezhil Arasu K has captured the film’s intense sports sequences, while Sakthi Thiru handles editing. The film is jointly produced by Sameer Nair, Deepak Saigal, Pa Ranjith, and Aditi Anand.
