The minister, along with other participants, rode from Major Dhyanchand Stadium to India Gate.

“Sundays on Cycle has become a movement to promote Prime Minister Modi’s Fit India Movement. On Sundays, lakhs of people ride bicycles to keep themselves fit. It has given people the message that maintaining balance in life is essential. I congratulate all those teachers who are connected with Sundays on the Cycle,” Mandaviya told the reporter.

The minister stated that to make India a developed nation by 2047, its citizens needed to become healthy.

“Cycling helps individuals stay fit, and when individuals are fit, society as a whole becomes healthier. A healthy society forms the foundation of a prosperous nation,” Mandaviya said. “As we look forward to 2047, when India will celebrate 100 years of independence, our goal is to make India a developed nation, and fitness is a vital step in that direction. We must continue to advance Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement.”

He emphasised the importance of striking a balance to march ahead in life. “When we ride a cycle, maintaining balance is essential. Similarly in life, we can only move forward when we find the right balance. Cycling teaches us this valuable lesson — that progress comes with stability. That’s why all the teachers took part in this initiative, to help students understand the importance of leading a balanced life,” he added.

“According to the Fit India dashboard, over 10,500 teachers across the country joined the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ campaign. I congratulate every teacher who took part in this inspiring effort,” Mandaviya mentioned.

“Fit India Sundays on Cycle” is an initiative organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), Yogasana Bharat, and MY Bharat. This nationwide cycling campaign takes place simultaneously across the capitals of all states and union territories. It is also conducted at SAI regional centres, National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs), SAI Training Centres (STCs), Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCEs), and Khelo India Centres (KICs), engaging participants from various age groups.
