Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala Friday accused the BJP government in Rajasthan of colluding with pharmaceutical companies, putting innocent lives at risk.

He cited a recent incident in Sikar where two children died after consuming cough syrup made by Kaysons Pharma, a company that had been blacklisted 40 times for failing quality tests. “The BJP government in Rajasthan, which toys with the lives of people and innocent children, is distributing ‘death in the name of medicine’ for free! In the greed for commissions, they have turned the Congress government’s ‘Chief Minister Free Medicine Scheme’ into a ‘death for profit scheme’,” Surjewala said in a post on X.

The Sikar incident has sparked outrage, with many questioning the government’s oversight and quality control measures. Surjewala’s allegations suggest that the BJP government in Rajasthan may have been aware of Kaysons Pharma’s questionable track record but chose to ignore it, potentially due to corrupt motives.

The Congress leader accused the BJP government of prioritizing profits over people’s lives, alleging that they have been engaging in a “game of black business” with pharmaceutical companies. “Whether it’s the Corona pandemic or the daily ailments of people, the BJP government in Rajasthan has become accustomed to putting people’s lives at stake in the brokerage of pharmaceutical companies,” he said.
