Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh on Wednesday announced that the state will develop a new Industrial Model Township (IMT) in collaboration with Japanese investors, further strengthening Haryana’s position as a leading global industrial hub.

Gurugram has already emerged as a major centre of industrial growth, driven significantly by Japanese investments. Currently, nearly one-third of Japan’s total investments in India are directed to Haryana, and more than 600 Japanese companies are operational in Gurugram, generating large-scale employment and advancing technology in the state.

Singh informed that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will lead a high-level delegation to Japan from October 5 to 11, where he will meet investors and showcase Haryana’s business-friendly ecosystem. The Chief Minister will also visit the Haryana Pavilion at the Global Investors’ Exhibition to invite more Japanese companies to set up operations in the state.

He said, “This initiative will not only provide attractive opportunities for investors but also open new avenues for employment generation, technical training, and industrial development for the youth.”

He expressed confidence that the Chief Minister’s visit to Japan will further elevate Haryana’s presence on the global investment map and give new momentum to the state’s industrial and economic growth.
Rao Narbir Singh announced that the Haryana government has planned several ambitious initiatives to further enhance industrial development in the National Capital Region.
In the 2025–26 state budget, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the development of 10 new Industrial Model Townships (IMTs), of which five have already been approved.

All these townships will be rapidly developed within the next five years. Notably, one of these model townships will be developed in collaboration with Japanese investors to further strengthen Haryana’s global industrial identity, he added.

Singh noted that since the establishment of Maruti’s automobile plant in the 1980s, Gurugram has transformed into a key centre for industries such as auto components, electronics, software, hardware, and cyber technology.

The Minister recalled that following former Chief Minister Manohar Lal’s visit to Japan in 2020, the India–Japan Fast-Track Mechanism was established to make India, particularly Haryana, more accessible and attractive for Japanese investors.
