Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has been hospitalised in Bengaluru for a pacemaker implant, his son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge said on Wednesday.
The 83-year-old Congress leader was taken to MS Ramaiah Hospital after he developed a fever and complained of fatigue.

Later, doctors advised the senior leader to undergo a pacemaker implant procedure.
“Sri Kharge was advised a pacemaker to be implanted and is admitted to the hospital for the planned procedure,” his son Priyank said in a post on X.
The Congress chief is stable and doing well, his son added.
Responding to Priyank’s post, Congress leader Srinivas BV wished Kharge a speedy recovery.
“Wishing our Congress President, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge ji, a speedy recovery and good health. I pray for your well-being and look forward to seeing you back in full energy very soon,” he said.
In September last year, Kharge was hospitalised in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua after his health deteriorated during a rally.
Delivering a speech in Kathua, Kharge was seen gasping for breath and almost fainted before being helped by a Congress worker. Following the incident, he took a jibe at the BJP and said, “I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power.”
