Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed deep condolences on the demise of veteran BJP leader and Delhi’s first Chief Executive Councillor VK Malhotra. The state government will conduct his funeral with full honours.

Malhotra breathed his last early Tuesday in New Delhi.

On Tuesday, she visited his residence to pay her respects to Prof Malhotra and reiterated that his passing was an immense and irreplaceable loss.

She said Malhotra, who also served as a Member of Parliament and a legislator in Delhi, was a frontline warrior of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and the BJP.

Gupta said the departed leader not only shaped Delhi’s politics but also set new standards of public service, earning respect with true service to people. As the first president of Delhi BJP, he strengthened the party’s foundations and guided countless workers with his example of service, discipline, and dedication.

She further said that Prof Malhotra’s life exemplified patriotism, organisational skill, and simplicity and added that he was a guiding figure for party workers. His selfless dedication will continue to inspire everyone.

She prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for his grieving family and party workers to bear this profound loss.

The CM postponed all her programmes and several government events.
