Cha Hyun Seung, the popular dancer-turned-actor, has revealed that he is currently battling leukemia. The news came straight from the star himself through an emotional Instagram post on September 27.

Cha first rose to fame as a backup dancer for K-pop stars like EXO, Stray Kids, and Girls’ Generation. However, it was in 2018, when he danced alongside Sunmi, that he went viral and earned the nickname “Sunmi’s hot backup dancer.”

At the time, he was chasing his dreams, having just cleared final auditions for multiple projects. But the leukemia diagnosis forced him to stop everything he had been working for.

The beginning was extremely difficult for Cha. He admitted that he struggled to accept the reality of his illness and could not bring himself to tell anyone. “Every day was filled with fear and confusion,” he said.

Now, Cha says he feels ready to share his journey. He is undergoing treatment and fighting the disease quietly, day by day. Despite the challenges, he remains determined to overcome leukemia and return to the stage and screen.

“The road ahead is long, but I’m going to overcome this no matter what,” he wrote. “My dreams and passion still live on.”

He also thanked his fans and supporters for their encouragement, whether he knew about it or not. Cha promised that he will come back stronger and warmer, holding onto hope every day.
