Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Thursday questioned the government’s claim of promoting ‘Make in India’ initiatives, saying that the policies only benefit crony capitalists like Adani and Ambani.
In a post on his WhatsApp channel, Gandhi said the MSME sector, the backbone of the economy that generates the most employment, has suffered the most due to the government’s policies. The policies are designed to benefit crony capitalists, with no vision to revive the MSME sector even after reducing GST rates.

He said that the MSME sector has been severely impacted by policies like demonetization and GST.

The leader of the Opposition pointed out that the government’s promise to increase the manufacturing sector’s share in GDP to 25 per cent has not been fulfilled, with the current share hovering around 13 per cent.
He criticized the government for lacking a vision to revive the MSME sector and create jobs for youth.
Gandhi emphasized the need for a new approach that promotes employment, equal opportunities, and respects people’s skills. He said that mere PR and headline management will not suffice, the government needs to adopt policies that benefit the broader population, not just a select few.
