Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in this historic city of Rajasthan on Thursday on a whirlwind four-hour visit to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth Rs 1.22 lakh crore from Banswara.

Soon after his special IAF plane landed at the Maharana Pratap Dabok Airport here at around 12:45 pm, the prime minister boarded an IAF helicopter at Mahi-Banswara Helipad. At Banswara, he attended a number of functions before heading for Banswara-Mahi Helipad shortly before 02:00 pm.

The main programme of the prime minister remained laying of the foundation stone for the 2800 MW Atomic Energy Plant involving an investment of Rs 42,000 crore. The ceremony was held at the plant site in Napala village on the outskirts.

Besides the foundation stone laying ceremony, the PM inaugurated or laid the foundation stones for several development projects of different sectors including renewable energy, that would add generation capacity of 500 megawatt solar energy. Of these, project worth Rs 1.08 lakh crore are meant for Rajasthan alone.

At this function, he also flagged off, by remote control, two new Vande Bharat trains for Delhi Cantt from Jodhpur and Bikaner and also a new express train from Udaipur to Chandigarh.

Modi also handed over employment letters for government service to 15,000 youths and interacted with the beneficiaries of the PM-KUSUM Scheme and other initiatives.

He held a virtual interaction with several beneficiaries who connected with him from different locations of the country through video conferencing.

The PM later addressed a public meeting in the Napala village.

Before going up on the stage, PM Modi took a ride in an open jeep to acknowledge the audience’s greeting accompanied by Chief Minister Sharma, Dy CMs Diya Kumari and Dr Prem Chand Bairwa and BJP state President Madan Rathore.

Before embarking his journey back to New Delhi, the PM is scheduled to pay obeisance at the famous Tripura-Sundari shrine in the Banswara district.
