Sources stated that his statement was recorded under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The ED has reportedly intensified its probe into the 1xBet betting app, having previously questioned several high-profile individuals, including former cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, and actors such as ex-TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty and Ankush Hazra over the past few weeks.
The investigation focuses on allegedly illegal online betting platforms and their role in defrauding users and evading taxes.
Some of those already questioned by the ED have denied any unlawful conduct.
Sources added that the investigation has been ongoing for some time, with authorities alleging that the platform operated illegally in India and was involved in multiple irregularities.
The individuals’ connection to the app reportedly involves endorsements, while the agency is examining the financial arrangements related to these associations.
The summons are part of a broader crackdown by the federal agency on illegal online betting platforms and applications.
