On the appeal of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Muslims across Uttar Pradesh observed today (Friday) as Youm-e-Dua — a Day of Prayer — for the protection of Waqf properties and the success of the case in the Supreme Court challenging the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025.

Delivering the Friday sermon at Jama Masjid Eidgah, Lucknow, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali stated that Waqf is an integral part of Islam, as mentioned in the Quran. He emphasized that the Prophet of Islam, his companions, and other Muslims donated their personal properties in the name of Allah, which is known as Waqf.

Maulana further stated that the Constitution of India guarantees religious freedom under Articles 25 and 26, which ensures the right to manage religious institutions and places of worship. The AIMPLB, he added, had submitted a detailed representation to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), pointing out that many of the new amendments violate Articles 14, 15, 16, 25, and 26 of the Constitution.

He informed that the case is currently being contested in the Supreme Court, and in a recent interim order, the Court has provided some relief. He expressed hope and confidence that the final judgment would ensure complete justice for the Muslim community.

Following the Friday Namaz, special prayers (Dua) were offered in almost all mosques across Uttar Pradesh and the country, seeking divine help for a favorable outcome in the case.
