In a major relief, the Allahabad High Court on Friday granted bail to Umar Ansari, the youngest son of late gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, in a case related to a forged signature.

The single bench of Justice Gautam Choudhary allowed his bail plea.

According to the petitioner’s counsel, Umar was accused of using forged documents and forging his mother Afsa Ansari’s signature to get a seized property released in his favour. The property had been confiscated under the Gangster Act.

A case was registered against him at the Mohammadabad Police Station in Ghazipur district.

Umar Ansari was arrested from Lucknow in connection with the case and later sent to jail. His earlier bail plea was rejected on August 21 by the ADJ First Court of Ghazipur, after which he approached the High Court, which has now granted him bail.
