Hours after levelling allegations with regard to the deletion of voters’ names from the electoral roll in Karnataka’s Aland, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday launched a fresh attack against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, claiming he has been stonewalling the investigation into the matter.

Gandhi alleged on X that the CEC has blocked the investigation into the deletion of over 6,000 voters’ names by refusing to share the requested information with the Karnataka CID. The Congress MP said even the State Election Commission of Karnataka has written to the Election Commission of India to comply with the probe, but the same has also been blocked by the CEC, as the state poll panel received no response.

The ECI has withheld all incriminating evidence, like details of destination IP, device ports, and OTP trails, which are key to establishing who, using software, deleted the names of voters in booths that were Congress strongholds.

Here is what the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha posted on X:

“After our Aland candidate exposed the fraud, the local EC official filed an FIR, but the CID investigation has been – BLOCKED by CEC. The Karnataka CID has written 18 letters in 18 months requesting all incriminating evidence – BLOCKED by CEC. The Karnataka EC has sent multiple requests to ECI to comply with the investigation – BLOCKED by CEC. Details of destination IP, device ports, and OTP trails have been withheld – BLOCKED by CEC. If this vote theft had not been caught and the 6,018 votes had been deleted, our candidate could have lost the election. CEC Gyanesh Kumar – stop giving excuses. Release the evidence to the Karnataka CID. NOW.”

The Congress party separately said CEC Kumar has taken an oath under the Constitution, and he should share the requested details and evidence. If the Karnataka CID fails to receive the same within seven days, then it will be presumed by the nation that he is involved in the murder of the Constitution and is protecting the ‘vote chors’.

“Our demand is: The country’s Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, should do his duty because he has taken an oath under the Constitution. EC should provide, within 7 days, the data that the Karnataka CID is asking for. If you do not do so, the whole of India will know that CEC Gyanesh Kumar is involved in the murder of the Constitution and is protecting the ‘vote chors’,” the main Opposition party wrote on X.
