Trump snubs reports of “major defeat” after talks with Putin
US President Donald Trump on Sunday dismissed claims that he has suffered a 'defeat' at the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the August 15 Summit in Alaska.
The Indian contingent participated in the exercise along with their American counterparts hailing from the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment – popularly known as the “Bobcats” of the Arctic Wolves Brigade, part of the US Army’s 11th Airborne Division.

Curtains were drawn on the fortnight-long Yudh Abhyas 2025, the annual India-US military exercise, in Alaska. The 21st edition of the exercise aimed at strengthening defence cooperation between the armies of the two countries.

Indian Embassy in the US took to X to reveal the details of the joint exercise that began on 1 September with a formal opening ceremony. Initial days featured Command Post Exercises where and staff officers planned together on ops, command & control, and battlefield enablers.

“Field training followed; patrols, small-unit manoeuvres and tactical drills in sub-arctic terrain. Troops built familiarity with each other’s procedures and equipment under realistic conditions. Subsequently, joint artillery units conducted live-fire drills at the Yukon Training Area. The mortar drills tested precision, fire control and joint communications,” the post read further.
The medical readiness was another focus area wherein the Indian and US teams trained on casualty evacuation, frostbite prevention, high-altitude physiology and force health protection.
The final phase saw integrated operations with infantry, artillery, aviation, electronic warfare & counter-drone systems under joint command. Distinguished Visitor Day on 11 September showcased live-fire manoeuvres and combined battle group operations. Senior officers praised the ease of & troops working side by side.
“Since 2002, #YudhAbhyas has grown from a platoon-level drill into one of the most advanced bilateral exercises India conducts with any partner nation. With successful completion of #YudhAbhyas2025, -armed forces continue to strengthen engagement for peace, stability, security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region,” the post read.
