In an official statement, Aamir’s spokesperson dismissed the reports as “completely false” and praised both Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj.
“Mr Aamir Khan has given no such interview and has made no negative comments about the film ‘Coolie’. Mr Khan has the highest regard for Mr Rajinikanth, Mr Lokesh and in fact the entire team of ‘Coolie’. The film has done over Rs 500 crore at the box office which speaks for itself,” the statement read.
The rumour began after a clipping suggested that Aamir felt his role in the movie was unclear and that he regretted signing the project.
To clear the air further, Aamir Khan Productions also released an Instagram post. “On behalf of Mr Aamir Khan, team AKP would like to categorically state that Mr. Khan has given no interview regarding the film ‘Coolie’. There seems to be a fake interview doing the rounds of social media. It states Mr. Khan is supposed to have criticised the film ‘Coolie’. This is fake interview,” the post declared.
The post also added a surprising detail, Aamir hasn’t even watched ‘Coolie’ yet. “Mr. Lokesh was very keen to be present when Mr. Khan would watch the film. And as a result, for one reason or the other, it’s not happened as yet,” the production house revealed.
Despite not having seen it himself, Aamir made sure to acknowledge the film’s massive success. ‘Coolie’, starring Rajinikanth in the lead, has already crossed the ₹500 crore mark at the box office.
