The All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) on Friday charged the Hemant Soren government with betraying the youth, pointing out that more than two lakh sanctioned posts have been cut in just two years while 1.58 lakh vacancies remain unfilled.
At a press conference in Ranchi, AJSU general secretary and spokesperson Sanjay Mehta said the government’s repeated assurances of jobs had proved hollow. “Every recruitment ends up in controversy, delay, or court cases. The government has murdered the dreams of lakhs of youth,” he alleged.

Mehta recalled that in its previous term the government had promised five lakh jobs annually and unemployment allowance, and in its second term assured 10 lakh government jobs. “None of these commitments have been fulfilled,” he said, adding that recruitment exams have been marred by irregularities, paper leaks and delays.
He cited the JSSC CGL exams, where over three lakh candidates appeared but final results remain stuck due to pending CID inquiries. In the case of assistant professors, more than 15,000 posts are vacant because document verification was never completed. The excise constable recruitment was also questioned, where 17 youths reportedly died during physical tests but no appointments followed.
According to finance department figures quoted by the AJSU, sanctioned posts across government departments fell from 5.33 lakh in 2022-23 to 3.26 lakh in 2024-25. Education lost over 1.8 lakh posts, while the home department saw a cut of nearly 40,000.
The AJSU further accused the government of failing to implement 27 per cent OBC reservation, ignoring the 75 per cent quota in private jobs, and leaving 1.6 lakh contractual and outsourced workers without regularisation. The delay in posting 39 DSPs, the pending results of the CDPO exam, and the failure to conduct a Teacher Eligibility Test since 2016 were also raised.
Calling the outsourcing model exploitative, the party demanded direct recruitment with proper reservation. It also proposed a “Talent Bridge” on the lines of UPSC to link unsuccessful but meritorious JPSC candidates with institutions for employment.
“Jharkhand’s youth have been betrayed. The government’s employment record is one of delay, deception and denial,” Mehta said, urging immediate recruitment and transparency in all examinations.
