Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway has implemented biometric Sign-in and Sign-off for Train Ticket Examiners (TTEs), marking a step towards transparency and accountability in Railway operations.
To streamline the Duty Attendance System, biometric-based login/off has been introduced in all 12 computerized TTE lobbies of the Division located at Khurda Road, Puri, Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Balugaon, Brahmapur, Palasa, Dhenkanal, Angul and Paradeep. This facility will cover around 550 TTEs working under the Division.

The Aadhaar-enabled biometric authentication will ensure accurate sign-on/off, eliminate discrepancies in Manual Attendance Systems and confirm the physical presence of staff at the respective station while signing on/off duty.
The project is part of the “Proliferation of Computerized TTE Lobbies over Indian Railways” initiative, which has already been implemented at more than 950 locations across the country. The biometric feature was developed in coordination with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
The system uses Aadhaar-based fingerprint authentication devices, certified by UIDAI/STQC and integrated with the e-Pramaan portal. The feature has been successfully tested at New Delhi TTE Lobby with certified devices and is now being deployed across TTE lobbies of Indian Railways.
